Sen. Lincoln takes on the Polls and the Tea Parties

Sen. Blanche Lincoln took to the airwaves on KARN Newsradio in central Arkansas today to discuss a range of issues including her vote to extend unemployment benefits, her opponent’s lead in the polls, and her opinion of the tea party movement.

When asked if she was concerned over the cost of deficit spending, she said, “We also have to been concerned (about deficit spending.) Republican want to squabble over whether we are going to pay for UI (Unemployment Insurance) but they don’t want to pay for tax cuts. I think tax cuts are important, but I think when you can pay for things, you should.”

She went on to explain that she voted for the bill in spite of the cost because of the Arkansans that have lost their jobs through no fault of their own but due to “the risky business that occurred on Wall Street.” She also cited a CBO study that claims the unemployment benefits will stimulate the economy as the unemployed spend their benefits immediately.

As for the recent poll numbers showing down by a considerable margin, Lincoln said she was confident she could overcome them. The polls have put Sen. Lincoln as many as 31 to as few as 19 points behind Republican Rep. John Boozman, although her campaign released an internal poll claiming she was only 9 points down.

“Absolutely we can overcome them,” said Lincoln. “I think polls are just polls. Most people design those polls to say whatever they want them to say. The most important poll we take is the one on election day.”

Sen. Lincoln also weighed in on her opinion of the Tea Party movement.

“I think there are some people out there who are very concerned about our country and I don’t disagree with them,” said Lincoln. We are faced with a lot of challenges right now. And they want to see us being productive. They want to see us in Washington working harder to solve problems. But you don’t solve problems through hate and anger and rudeness. And there are some of them out there that are taking those courses. They are using new types of media, whether it’s YouTube or Facebook to distort people’s record and to try to create controversy over things that shouldn’t be controversial. Or in some case, just try to tear people down.”

We have to remember that it was Blank Lincoln who called the Tea Party movement un-American. And she’s trying to ride the fence on the deficit. Her and her party have drastically increased the deficit since Obama has been in office. She’s so stupid that she has no idea that tax cuts aren’t “paid for.” The result of the tax cuts is increased revenue. Economic illiterates like this will be fired in November. Lincoln WILL be defeated.
