Liberal Blog Calls for Sen. Lincoln to Retire

The nationally renowned liberal blog Daily Kos is calling for Arkansas Sen. Blanche Lincoln to retire. They point to her waffling on the health care vote and her dismal poll numbers as reasons for her to step aside. They write…

Democrats have a thick bench in Arkansas, and could make a serious bid to hold the seat. But Lincoln won’t pull it off. She’s toast.

If Lincoln cares about her state and her party, she’ll do the honorable thing like Chris Dodd and retire. Otherwise, let’s hope Lt. Gov. Bill Halter forcefully retires her in a primary.

Although I am sure Lincoln is not happy about the friendly fire, I doubt we will see an early retirement. With reportedly over $6 million in her campaign war chest and a fully staff just hired, it looks like she is gearing up for a long hard fought campaign.

Never fear once Holt wins the Republican Primary her poll numbers will improve. It will prove that the Republican Party doesnt want to be a player in the state. If Holt wins the whole leadership of the GOP should resign!! Doyle Webb is a good man and worked for Rockefeller but as Chairman he has pandered to the Right Wing of the party and choosen not to be a leader its time for him to go!!!

I do not share your hatred for Jim Holt, but I do think that 9 candidates for U.S. Senate and 1 for Constitutional Office is a disgrace. It reflects poor leadership, poor priorities, and raises serious questions about his job performance.

Yes it does but I dont think the problem is with the Chairman as much as with the Committee that has to many closed minded people on it and does not do enought to move conservitive democrats away from the liberal democratic party. Until we start nominating serious candidates who can raise money and win elections this movement will not take place. We had some movement during the Huckabee years but it has ended now. Baker and Coleman are both solid candidates who dont scare conservitive democrats or moderate inedpendent voters and the truth of the matter is that we cannot win an election without winning both groups to our side. If Holt wins the nomination and then is defeated every member of the state Committe, the Executive Committee, every officer and every staff member should resign the day after the election.

Lets wait until filing period before we complain about who is running for what. I would agree that some of the people running for Senate should be running for other things. But come filing period we may, and probably will, be at a point where we have people running for at least the top 5 Constitutional offices (maybe not AG but I don’t know). Currently we have two talking about Lt. Gov. and two talking about Sec. of State that have been discussed on this blog right?
