Sarah Palin Coming to Central Arkansas February 16 (UPDATE)
A Facebook invite lets me know that Sarah Palin will be coming to Central Arkansas on February 16 for a fundraiser. The event will be at Verizon Arena in North Little Rock at 6:00 that evening. Details forthcoming but it appears the dinner is $175 a plate and will raise money for the Republican Party of Arkansas.
UPDATE - The Facebook link now says “This Event is no longer available because it has been canceled.” Screencap before it was taken down. However, I believe this means whomever posted the Facebook invite jumped the gun before all the t’s are crossed with Paliln’s people. The RPA is being tight lipped with no comment on the event but other sources tell me the event is in the works just not finalized.
UPDATE II – At the risk of repeating myself, I want to clear up some inaccuracies floating around cyberspace on the Palin Arkansas event. According to my sources, the Palin event has not been finalized or cancelled. An excited insider posted the details on Facebook before the ink was dry on the event. Everyone I talked to still expects Palin to come to Arkansas but all the details have not yet been worked out.
Again, the event is not cancelled; it is just being finalized. Official announcement should be coming soon.

Who in their right mind would go and support a quitter is beyond me?????????????????
January 3rd, 2010 at 8:54 pm
Sounds like they are still working on it.I hope she gives lots of fundraisers and speaches this year.

Apparently some members simply don’t understand how to keep their mouth shut until details are finalized and information is ready to be released.

I find it very sad that today in the United States, a person who quits an elected position can be praised for it and can face the criticism, pressure, or have the courage (edited) do the hard work required to hold a government position job. Sarah Palin offers her opinion on every subject; has adoring fans who hang onto every word she says–She has chosen the path that is easier and more lucrative. What a sad state of affairs that a quitter stands to gain more than the hard worker in public service! When did America decide to reward those who settle for the easiest path–that if you have the endorsement of FOX or Rush Limbaugh or Glenn Beck nobody will question your motives or abilities
January 3rd, 2010 at 10:35 pm
To: Mary Harris: I find it very sad that a fool like you follows a persons every move who you say is a “quitter”.
In my book, any woman who knows she is about to have a baby with Downs syndrome, yet still goes thru with the pregnancy, is not a quitter in my book.
Now go away!! Suck it up. This woman will be the next president of the US.
January 3rd, 2010 at 10:39 pm
Mary Harris–the reason Sarah “quit” is because she could no longer serve the public because of idiots filing ethic charges against her….and not one of the charges has held up!! I wish more “public servants” would step down when he/she no longer serve their constiuents. Boy, it’d be a great day if Obama figured out he should step down for the good of the country like Palin did for AK!!!
Did you ever hear the saying, “you have to lose a few battles to win the war?”
Get the facts instead of listening to MSNBS!!!!
January 3rd, 2010 at 11:02 pm
MH,
Put down the Kool-Aid…
January 3rd, 2010 at 11:08 pm
Mary Harris–This “quiting” situation has been explained and or discussed to the satisfaction of everyone with an IQ higher than a house plant—-Would you like for me to explain it to you using small words?
January 3rd, 2010 at 11:15 pm
Faced with over a dozen frivolous ethics complaints (eight by the same person and one by a fictional character), thousands of man hours by state employees researching documents under the FOIA with the subsequent waste of state funds, and facing personal attorney fees of over $500,000 – in Alaska the governor is responsible for their own legal representation – Palin made the difficult decision to resign her position. Each and every complaint was dismissed without merit.
She made a choice for the people of her state and for her family. Personally, I think it was the right one. Rather than berating her for that decision, be outraged over the treatment she received at the hands of the folks who wished to destroy her career and her family – unless of course you agree with that treatment. Decent people don’t wish to see anyone treated that way for trying to serve the people or their country, and it has nothing to do with FOX, Limbaugh, Beck, Democrats or Republicans.
What a sad state of affairs it is that some in America decide that it’s O.K. to attempt to destroy the lives and work of those who have done nothing more than dare to have a different political outlook. Most Americans can forgive someone who resigns a position for the betterment of the common good, but we disagree with and are disgusted by those who lie and scheme for the sole purpose of destroying someone over a difference of opinion. That we will not forget.
January 3rd, 2010 at 11:27 pm
the people who call palin a quiter are just being faux or uniformed. She left because it was economically impossible to keep her job when liberals exploited a loophole in the state ethics laws to put her into bankruptcy, and it would have become impossible to run for Potus while being GOV for 2 more years in a state 4 hours behind east coast time.
the loophole in the ethics law was that she had to pay legal fees out of pocket for dissmissed (bogus ethics complaints) most states (and the potus) have the taxpayers pay for ethics issues.
the fact that she left early had nothing to do with her abilitys to be Gov. or POTUS for that matter.
January 3rd, 2010 at 11:49 pm
Love it —sure hit the nail on the head —everyone coming out of the woodwork to defend her-but you sure like to put down Obama and this admin—All anyone can say is if you can’t take the disagreement and the going gets tough–I never in my book thought quitting was the way out—but I tell you for a million I guess I would find some excuse to quit too, its called going rogue the american way– with her actions and what came out of her mouth she destroyed herself. One classless woman—you betch ya!!!!
January 4th, 2010 at 8:13 am
Brett – that’s exactly what it was. And there’s one person that keeps popping up as the guy who blabbed. Three guesses I’ll give you, but the first doesn’t count. Why people within the party want to continue to screw things up is beyond comprehension.
January 4th, 2010 at 8:41 am
Mary H. is a sad lady, I am not sure if this is really her or his name. Anyway, pray for stupid people too. I will pray for Mary H. I think there is a page for Mary in Glen’s Book…
Check it out!

Hmmm…Arkansas..Doesn´t Mike Huckabee has a lot of links to the Arkansas Republican Party…The leak which has ¨postponed¨ the event with Sarah…You don´t suppose…?
January 4th, 2010 at 9:15 am
According to the Wall Street Journal, aka the liberal press, Palin did abuse her authority,
“A long-awaited Alaska legislative report concluded that Republican Sen. John McCain’s vice-presidential running mate, Gov. Sarah Palin, abused her authority and broke state ethics law by trying to remove her former brother-in-law from his job as a state trooper.”
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122364495587222887.html
But she didn’t fire him illegally. The Palin people chose to ignore the actual findings and spin it as a victory. Most people who adore her get all their news directly from her, so Palin’s secret is safe. Further, other ethics complaints weren’t dismissed without foundation either, but there isn’t much point in discussing that since Sarah says otherwise.
January 4th, 2010 at 9:56 am
She quit her vacation, so of course she has no stomach for work.
January 4th, 2010 at 10:09 am
Seriously James, you are going to blame Huckabee for this Palin fiasco? Classic!
January 4th, 2010 at 10:37 am
How the story is still out that all the suits were dismissed and found to be without merit is still out there is astounding. How the story that Palin had over $500,000 in legal fees from the slew of suits is astounding. The truth is that about $500,000 of that over $500,000 was from ONE suit, the Troopergate case, which was NOT frivolous, and, has already been reported, hardly ‘dismissed’.
Also, Palin had the choice of using state legal counsel but she CHOSE to hire a private attorney (probably at the recommendation of the McCain campaign) Also, another suit with merit was ’settled’ – Palin repaid travel amounts for charging the State of Alaska travel expenses for her children. There are still a couple of cases still open.
There’s more, but I have to go work out …

[...] Tolbert notes that Sarah Palin may or may not be coming to Arkansas next [...]
January 4th, 2010 at 11:57 am
Mary wouldn’t know if class, if it slapped her in her face
why is Mary so scared? She’s got her man in office; she is in control of DC
why should Mary be worried about poor little no brains, unAmerican types, cause we be just lil ole dumb extremeists …. Gosh Mary what you so worried about anyway… What we think and care about doesn’t matter anyway. Right Mary ??
January 4th, 2010 at 12:46 pm
While I disagree with Mary on some points…though not all…I find it somewhat distasteful that many want to demean and degrade a commenter for posting their opposing viewpoints.
January 4th, 2010 at 12:52 pm
With the sad state of affairs the RPA is in, not to mention the corruption, I think Palin coming to speak at a GOP function in Arkansas would not be beneficial to herself. Not to mention the GOP here in Arkansas is going to lose their major party status since they aren’t putting up a sacrificial lamb against Beebe. I’m glad I call myself a Conservative and not a Republican.
January 4th, 2010 at 12:57 pm
Hank, I’m sure Republicans will run someone against Beebe. It is just January. The primary is five months away. As with everyone else you’re more than welcome to throw your hat in the ring.
January 4th, 2010 at 1:06 pm
It is the truth that Palin had to pay back the money she took illegally for her children to travel. Why aren’t those kids in school? Palin couldn’t take the book money unless she quit her job. Now she has a new monster mansion and a Caddy to cruise around in. Trip to Hawaii too. Aren’t you glad you’re donations are going to a good life for the quitter?
Wake up folks Palin is the worst thing to ever happen to the Republican Party. It is destroyed.
January 4th, 2010 at 1:10 pm
I wonder if at this speech (But she will quit before then )she will be telling all her FANS (BTW : Celebrities have fans.. NOT politicians )about Bristols new Corporation she created called BSMC.LLC… it’s a secret… Shhhh. One Employee-Bristol. Hmmm?
How will she get paid…. by donations from SarahPAC, my guess.
I think Bill Morgan needs to hear in Palin’s OWN words her recollection of the ‘ Wild Ride story ‘ and that Baby. Bill… you really bought that? Palingates has the audio… just click on the link. HER OWN words.
January 4th, 2010 at 1:35 pm
Hank – I mean Mr. Drown: Can you expand on your the corruption charge? Also, when did the RPA announce that they were throwing in the towel regarding a gov candidate? BTW – I am glad you don’t call yourself a republican either.
January 4th, 2010 at 2:05 pm
Brett, I’m a little baffled at the fact that nobody has announced their intent to run against Beebe. It’s disheartening because there seems to be a pattern here. The RPA didn’t run anybody against Pryor or Snyder or several other state offices. I just don’t want to see the GOP lose their major party status here in Arkansas. I do still vote GOP over Dem, but if there is a conservative Independent, I consider him/her as well. I’m just saying, the RPA needs to get their stuff together.
January 4th, 2010 at 2:43 pm
Sorry for the typo in my earlier post.
It should have read BSMP.LLC. created 9/29/09 You can look it up.

How many 18 yo High Schoolers have their own Corporations… and get paid for being a ” Political consultant”…?
I thought she was a baby-sitter.
January 4th, 2010 at 4:45 pm
“Hank” – I assume you really don’t pay that close attention to Republican politics, then. The RPA has somebody – people just need to be patient. Until that time, I agree w/ Brett. If all you want to do is complain then sit down and shut up. However, if you would like to make a difference throw your own hat and reputation into the ring. I’m sure you have nothing to hide w/ a screen name like Ayn Rand’s “Hank Rearden.”

——————————————————————————–
Sarah Palin is living proof of the complete dumbing down America. When people start selecting totally incompetent people for very serious positions in government its time to really question the mentality of the public. They must think being the President of the United States of America is like being on a reality television show.Turn off the dumb-dumb sets and wake ** up people!
When you’re sworn in for a four year term, you don’t have “other options”. You have a trust with your constituents to complete your term, you don’t quit halfway through because it’s too hard, or you realize you could be getting rich instead of solving the problems of your state.
If you think those are admirable qualities for a politician then by all means slap a Palin 2012 sticker on your bumper.
January 4th, 2010 at 6:25 pm
Mary Harris, Isn’t that what we got with Obama? A ** community organizer who doesn’t have a clue. Did you vote for this idiot?
January 4th, 2010 at 6:30 pm
Mary Harris i have to agree with some of what you say just as Brett does and he is also right about some people being nasty about differences of opinion.Isn’t this a free country or is it like up in wasilla where you are banned???I will always vote for the person not the party and I just wish more people would do that and take a long hard look before voting,Fact check what is said.Don’t just take one persons word for things
January 4th, 2010 at 7:34 pm
I have no idea who Mary Harris is but she is a refreshing voice of reason on this blog. A couple of things. Mrs Palin is NOT Governor Palin anymore. No matter how you try to spin it, she quit her job two years into her term. How do you think all those Palin voters felt – the ones who had voted her into office with the best intentions – when she quit midway through her term? Wasted votes, I’d say.
And how many of you who would like Mrs Palin to run for president in 2012 know the Constitution? We have three branches of government here, and even if Mrs Palin IS elected President, she CAN’T “change” our government. She cannot “abolish abortion”; only a Supreme Court ruling or state-by-state laws can do that. She cannot take “our country back”. No one – in this day and age – can do that. White voters will be a minority in about 20 years – you can’t empty out 150 years of the United States being a great Melting Pot.
I know it’s scary for a lot of Mrs Palin’s supporters to look around and see all the darker faces of their fellow citizens. Your world is not the same as it was 30 years ago. It’s a fact. We have a very smart black man as our president, trying to help the US back from eight years of destruction by the Bush/Cheney administration. How many of you who are now protesting the “wasteful spending” were equally upset while Bush/Cheney were waging a needless war in Iraq while cutting taxes of their REAL base, “The Haves and the Have-More’s”, as George Bush referred to his followers.
I actually like Mrs Palin. I think she’s spunky and could be an excellent political pundit on Fox News. But not President, please.
January 4th, 2010 at 9:58 pm
I wouldn’t hold my breath…she stiffed Nancy Reagan, do you really think a commitment to Central Arkansas means a hill of beans to her?
January 5th, 2010 at 12:16 am
The vitriol in these comments is astounding! Everyone’s entitled to their opinion, but there’s no excuse for misstatement of facts.
And Phoebes–you have a chip on your shoulder–I don’t think I read a single comment that mentioned Obama is a lousy President because of the color of his skin. Besides, in case you didn’t know, he’s just as much white as he is black.
The more people love to hate Sarah Palin, the more her supporters love her, me included. Just makes me laugh because it’s human nature that the more you fear someone, the more you attack them. Same with Obama. He’s attacked because people fear what he’s turning this country into. Plain and simple.
I always vote for the individual which is usually GOP because it’s the lesser of two evils. However, it hardly pays off in Arkansas races because the Ark. GOP is a sinking ship. Seems to me that if they were a conservative party, they would’ve backed Jim Holt.
If Sarah Palin doesn’t want to discredit herself, she’ll avoid associating herself with them. So many of her supporters admire her because of her willingness to face down the party when a RINO is up against a more conservative candidate. Hopefully, she’s reconsidering coming here to help them raise money.
As for the Ark. GOP running someone against Beebe, I’ll be waiting with baited breath. The primary may be 5 months away but, if I’m not mistaken, they have to file by sometime in March to avoid losing their party status. My guess is the party chairman will be the candidate (Doyle Webb), but I’m always up for a good surprise.
January 5th, 2010 at 8:39 pm
Barack “Hussein” Obama is a socialistic failure. Ramping up the war but where are the protests to that? If Jimmy Carter II can run and win then why can’t Palin?
