I don't think it is exactly fair to call conrad a carpet bagger, since he was only out of state those 25 years serving in the military. They don't exactly get to choose their duty stations, and even if they did, I don't think that arkansas has a regular army post of any real significance.

I also don't think it to be really fair to lump huckabee and coleman in with this. That is certainly implied above.

Kellie - Nice to see the Coleman/Huckabee folks up to their dirty tricks again. Conrad is clearly an evil carpet bagger traveling around the world defending our country and all that. And Gilbert, oh yes of course, we know he has always been pro-rape. Give me a break.

You are right though. We should really all get behind Coleman. I mean after he left his wife for that younger women, his new father-in-law gave him that CEO job and he was skilled enough to pull some strings with his old buddy Huckabee to skim enough money from the taxpayers of Arkansas to make it successful. Sound like the perfect qualification for a Senator to me.

Conrad is a carpet bagger, hasn't been in Arknasas for 25 years, furthermore to think a Colonel with that much time will actually listen to people is ridiculious. On the other hand Gilbert's support of a convicted violent rapist as well as his other behind the scenes political back-stabbing make him a dark-horse, no matter how much money he raises. Curtis, seems to make the most sense from what I have seen. Still to early to call, but as time goes on they will define themselves.

Don't forget about Conrad Reynolds. Unlike Gilbert, he will have the support of NWA Republicans and he is actually talking about issues important to Arkansans, not the odds or political calculus that Baker is using.

Barbara - That is an opinion many I am sure share. Just to clarify, my post was to explain Bisbee's possible motives here not necessarily to comment one way or the other on them.

Well, if I were serving in the State Senate, I'd sure rather work out a long-term working relationship with fiscal conservatives, rather than throw it all away to make some liberal RINO the Pro Tem.

But that's just me.

And, I'm seeing Gilbert's chances INCREASE since this takes away from Hendren's GOTV efforts.

Gilbert, still the strongest GOP horse in the race; and a trusted conservative, to boot. Not a bad way to go.

I think all Arkansas Republicans are running for Senate. Are all of these guys unaware of the constitutional offices that no one is running for or are they so Washington DC focused that they forget about Arkansas before they're elected to national office. We need Republican candidates for state and local offices. Some of these folks need to seriously think about their priorities. Huckabee thinks he will be President and he should be running for Senate. Most of the rest of these people should be running for constitutional and legislative offices. Will we never learn that all politics are local?
