Tim Griffin Confirms He is “Seriously Considering” Running Against Rep. Vic Synder
Tim Griffin confirmed this morning to the Tolbert Report that he is “seriously considering” running against Rep. Vic Synder for Congress in the second Congressional District.
Griffin at one time was rumored to be looking at running against Sen. Blanche Lincoln for the U.S. Senate but back in May indicated he was most likely not seek the Senate seat. Griffin is the former U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas and a former senior advisor to President George W. Bush. He currently is a political consultant for Griffin Public Affairs, advising clients such as Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison who is seeking the governors office in Texas, as well as an attorney with the Griffin Law Firm focusing on Federal Litigation.
Currently political newcomer Republican David Meeks of Conway is the only announced candidate seeking to challenge incumbent Rep. Vic Snyder.
“Mr. Griffin’s consideration of a congressional bid reaffirms what we have been saying throughout our campaign, that Second District voters are unhappy with Congressman Snyder’s votes in the House and that he is vulnerable,” said Meeks. “Should Mr. Griffin choose to commit to this race we welcome a healthy primary and discussion of the values and principles of the citizens of central Arkansas.”

I agree that "indicted" may be close a word which needs to be associated with a Rove clone.

Hi Jason. I think your blog is very astute!
I’ve been wondering how domain name registration fees fit into the (lamentable) McCain-Feingold rules, if the domain is used by a federal campaign committee. My impression is that the registration fee can be considered a campaign expenditure, so the mere act of registering a domain name can have ramifications, especially if the registration is done by the candidate himself, or by someone acting at the direction of the candidate. It appears that the FEC has not issued any opinions about anonymous domain name registrations for official campaign web sites yet, but they may have to consider the matter at some point.

AB – Good question. It seemed it would depend on if the fees met the thresehold for reporting.
