Andy Mayberry will “likely run” for State Representative District 27
Andy Mayberry confirmed to the Tolbert Report that he will “likely run” for State Representative in House District 27 but will not be making any official announcement until closer to the election. The current Representative Dawn Creekmore is term limited and is rumored to be moving into State Senate District 22 being vacated by term limited Sen. Shane Broadway so that she will be eligible to run there.
Mayberry is best known for his 2006 challenge to U.S. Rep. Vic Snyder where Mayberry received 40% of the vote. However, Mayberry received 52% of the vote in Saline County where a good portion of District 27 is located. Mayberry also ran for the state house in 2000 against former state Rep. Mike Creekmore (husband of Rep. Dawn Creekmore.)
Mayberry has worked in various advertising and public relations positions in central Arkansas and currently works for Neal and Associates in Little Rock owns his own advertising agency, Mayberry Advertising. He formerly was publisher and writter for The Spirit Magazine and now owns and runs The East Ender newspaper. Mayberry’s wife Julie Mayberry was a former co-host of Daybreak on KATV and now is the owner of “A
Time to Dance” dance studio. Mayberry is a leader in the Arkansas pro-life community and serves on the board of Arkansas Right to Life.
His likely opponent is Democrat Vicky Morris who has officially announced her intention of running for District 27. Morris is a legislative analyst with Arkansas House of Representatives and a former producer for KARK.
