Mike Huckabee Talks to Michael Steele
The word is Mike Huckabee spoke with Michael Steele regarding Steele’s comments on abortion being “an individual choice.” I am not sure who called who but I do think is says something about Huckabee’s power with the social conservative wing of the Republican Party that Steele felt the need to quickly correct himself. Here is what Huckabee had to say about it …
I have spoken this afternoon to Chairman Michael Steele and have received clarification from him as to his comments regarding the sanctity of life issue. I appreciate his
candor and most of all his willingness to personally discuss this with me.
Michael affirms his pro-life commitment, including support for the party platform of a Constitutional amendment to protect life and his conviction that life begins at conception. The point he sought to make was that words like “choice” and “individual decisions” have been co-opted by the left, when in fact his mother made a choice as an individual—the CHOICE to give birth to him as an unmarried college student. It would have been easy for her to have made a choice to end his life, but she chose life.
Obviously, this is an issue which is very important to me and to many other conservatives and it was important for me to get this clarified. I’m grateful that Chairman Steele was willing to set the record straight without hesitation.

Waterback, I am still waiting for my phone to ring from Steele’s office. It did ring once today and I was disappointed at first when it was not Steele until the guy of the phone informed me that he could lower my credit card debit through some newly approved government money no one has heard about yet. All he needed was my bank account number and authorization to send me the funds. So it is my lucky day!
Anyway, you are correct that I just don’t speak my mind enough here. Thanks for pointing it out. I will try to work on it.

Sorry, fellows, I wasn’t clear in that post. Jason’s not crawfishing, Steele is. He can’t say anything about any position without backing out of it and calling someone to apologize.
