Attorney General’s Office Welcomes Family Council to the Act 1 Case

mcdanielI am a little late on this one but as reported by the AP on Friday Pulaski County Circuit Judge Chris Piazza ruled that Family Council could intervene in the defense of Act 1, which bans cohabiting adults from becoming foster or adoptive parents.  Family Council is the social conservative group largely responsive for the passage of Act 1.

The spokesman for the Attorney General’s office tells the Tolbert Report, “We welcome the Family Council to the fray and look forward to working with them to defend Act 1.”  As the chief defender of Act 1, McDaniel has received some criticism for his financial contributions and public support for the group that opposed Act 1 during the election.  It will be important for McDaniel to continue this positive relationship with Family Council as the case progresses.  McDaniel may be realizing that a successful defense of an Act he is known to personally oppose could score some major political dividends.
