Video: Rep. Jon Woods on his State Sovereignty Bill Failing in Committee
I had I chance to speak with Rep. Jon Woods today on a resolution he is co-sponsoring regarding state sovereignty, HJR1011. Woods discussed why he felt this bill was needed and said he was disappointed in the straight party line vote in committee this morning. The House Committee on State Agencies defeated the resolution by a vote of 8 Republicans to 10 Democrats with Republican Donna Hutchinson and Democrat Clark Hall absent. Woods wondered if he may have gotten a different result if he had filed the bill in the previous legislative session when a different party was in the White House.
One note – A Tolbert Report hat tip to Rep. Duncan Baird who broke the news of the bills defeat via twitter. Twittering, blogging, and all the tools of the new media have been fun this session but would be greatly improved by passage of HB1611 and HB1783 (the two bill package making up the Jason Tolbert Transparency Act of 2009) to get these hearing streaming on the internet!

Aw, come ON, Arkansas! What is it about the current administration that makes you feel secure about your future, and that of your childrens’ and grandchildrens’ futures? Sen. McCain calls the passing of these trillions of dollar worth of bills filled with useless earmark ‘Generational Theft’! Stand up and be counted, otherwise the rest of the nation will believe that you are so uninformed, and so leftist biased, that you do not care to ’stand up and be counted’. Research what the other 30 states have done and WHY they’re doing it. Research it, present it again, and for the love of God, vote it in!!!! We need your state to stand for SOMETHING and pass your State’s Sovereignty Bill!!!

I am VERY disappointed. I do not think the people of Arkansas are aware of what is really going on. They are too busy working , trying to make a living , and trusting their elected officials to make good decisions for them. We all just have to work harder to get the word out.. I am very proud that Texas and Oklahoma have leadership in the government that makes good decisions. Our next elections will reflect the peoples voice , when the truth finally comes out. If I was an elected official in office right now, I would want to be working on the side of the people. As we are currently finding out, all devious deeds eventually come out. It is embarassing when you have to face the truth about where your loyalties lie. The TRUTH always comes out. We do have a just God, who misses nothing and still does exist , even if some try to declare the he needs to be left out of politics. Without his blessing , there would be no America and without his blessing we will not continue as a nation.
