House Speaker Wills: Halter’s Lottery Plan Has “Dwindling” Support

It looks like I was correct in my observations on Wednesday on House Speaker Robbie Wills’ absence from Bill Halter’s press release on the lottery. Today, the House Speaker told the AP that the plan faces “dwindling” support in the legislature. Speaker Wills joins Gov. Mike Beebe in speaking out against some of the Lieutenant Governor’s ideas, particularly the awarding of scholarships before any revenues are received.

If you will recall, Halter made the bold statement on last week’s “Daily Debrief” speaking on his lottery proposal saying, “We can’t find a single member of the legislature that is publicly against this.” Well, Bill, I guess you did not look hard enough.
