Twitter Rumor: Is Tim Griffin Thinking about a Senate Run? (UPDATE)

I received the above message via twitter this morning from Tim Griffin. Griffin twits, “Thinking about speech to Columbia County Republican Committee about senate run.” Senate run? Is Griffin thinking about tossing his hat in the ring to challenge Blanche Lincoln in 2010? I heard Griffin speak last Monday at a Young Republican lunch in Little Rock and he definitely has some great ideas, particularly on the economy. Regardless of the Senate possibility, there is no doubt that he is on his way to becoming one of the top conservative leaders within Arkansas.

UPDATE - The Associated Press has picked up on the story. Griffin tells the AP, “I am certainly thinking about it. I’m going to spend some time going around the state and talking to folks and getting an idea of the interest level.” Just remember, you heard it first on the Tolbert Report!
UPDATE II – Arkansas Business has picked up on this and correctly credits The Tolbert Report with breaking the story in the AP release that they post. Also, Sen. Lincoln’s campaign manager, Steve Patterson, has released a statement to the AP in response.
